Guys, it is freezing outside.
Literally freezing... well not literally, but it feels that way. All of that talk I did about buying a cute pink bike for warm spring weather- well those feelings are completely gone at the moment, since my toes feel like they're about to fall off. So inspired by how chilly it is, sad because I'm not allowed to run the heater right now, and unable to get coffee because of my college kid brokeness- I decided to make some home made Chai Tea to warm me up.
There's nothing better than a tasty, frothy warm beverage in cold weather when you're stranded at home!
What You'll Need
3 teabags of black tea
1 inch fresh ginger, cut into rounds
1 cinnamon stick
2 black pepper corns
10 whole cloves
5 cardamon pods
3 cups water
1 cup milk
1/4 cup brown sugar
Take all of your spices and put them in a ziplock baggy, and gently crush them with a rolling pin. Gently gently. You don't want to destroy them.
Now place the spices in a pot. Fill with the water and bring everything to a boil. Once you've hit a boil, bring it back down and let things simmer for the next ten minutes.
Add in the tea, and let it steep for the next few minutes, depending upon just how strong you like it.
Strain the liquid into a bowl, and rinse the pot of all the little yucky bits that tend to stick in there. Take the liquid you strained and put it back in the pot.
Now add milk and sugar and heat it back up to however warm you like it and serve!
Ta da! Nothing better on a rainy day!
