Warm Up on a Rainy Day- Chai Tea Recipe

Guys, it is freezing outside.

Literally freezing... well not literally, but it feels that way. All of that talk I did about buying a cute pink bike for warm spring weather- well those feelings are completely gone at the moment, since my toes feel like they're about to fall off. So inspired by how chilly it is, sad because I'm not allowed to run the heater right now, and unable to get coffee because of my college kid brokeness- I decided to make some home made Chai Tea to warm me up.

There's nothing better than a tasty, frothy warm beverage in cold weather when you're stranded at home!

What You'll Need

3 teabags of black tea
1 inch fresh ginger, cut into rounds
1 cinnamon stick
2 black pepper corns
10 whole cloves
5 cardamon pods
3 cups water
1 cup milk
1/4 cup brown sugar

Take all of your spices and put them in a ziplock baggy, and gently crush them with a rolling pin. Gently gently. You don't want to destroy them.

Now place the spices in a pot. Fill with the water and bring everything to a boil. Once you've hit a boil, bring it back down and let things simmer for the next ten minutes.

Add in the tea, and let it steep for the next few minutes, depending upon just how strong you like it.

Strain the liquid into a bowl, and rinse the pot of all the little yucky bits that tend to stick in there. Take the liquid you strained and put it back in the pot.

Now add milk and sugar and heat it back up to however warm you like it and serve!

Ta da! Nothing better on a rainy day!

  1. I adore chai tea! its something we have when on camping trips. love sipping it under the stars :)

    1. I know, it is absolutely delicious!
I don't know why, but sipping tea makes me feel all philosophical.
It must be so relaxing to have some while watching the stars and admiring nature!

  2. I might just have to get the stuff to make this...lucky me cuz I'm going to the store today. It's been rainy here for 2 weeks and I'm getting sick of it. Chai Tea would be perfect.

    1. Let me know how you like it!
I completely understand the frustration. The Cali weather here teased me. I laid out and got a beautiful tan a couple of days ago in perfect weather, and now it's been raining non stop since!

Hope the sun's out soon and you enjoy the tea. :)

  3. why does it say you only have two followers? You have the cutest blog ever! <3

    1. Thank you so much Isabel! It means a lot!
I'm very new to blogging, so I'm not entirely sure how to get a base of followers. I'm kind of just blogging and hoping it'll happen somehow. :) Every bit of support helps, so thank you for your follow!
